Women in Optometry Features Dr. Tracy Kimmelman

In an excellent feature on the Women in Optometry website, they highlight CLVC's own Dr. Tracy Kimmelman, and the family values that drive her.

The article, titled, "Third-Gen OD Follows Dad’s Footsteps In Her Own Way," talks about the influence Dr. Kimmelman's father had on her, both in his profession and at home, acting as her dad. “My dad was home in the evenings and able to attend my events when I was a kid. He didn’t have to miss out for work,” she says. “I wanted that same type of flexibility.”  The article traces her professional background and what appealed to her about Cohen Laser & Vision Center, namely, the family-run nature of our center, which was founded by G. Richard Cohen, MD, and is now led by his son, Joshua Cohen, MD.

It is also interesting that Dr. Tracy Kimmelman discusses the possibility that there might be a fourth generation Doctor of Optometry in her family lineage, as her kids get ready to head of to college and choose careers. But, there's no pressure from Dr. Tracy, she says, “I want my kids to know that it’s okay to stray from what your parents did, or what they think is best for you. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.”
